UPB Update week of 11-13-11

United Parish of Bowie

United in Christ – Our Mission: To Serve

Presbyterian Church (USA) and United Church of Christ

The Journey Toward Sunday

Thanks to everyone who helped out at the workday last Saturday, the church looks great!

Last week Shirley led a wonderful discussion for adult ed based on Philip Yancey's new book What Good Is God? In Search of a Faith That Matters.  I'd encourage you to come check out the course from 9:45-10:45 in the classroom over the next couple of weeks!

And from 9:45-10:45 in the sanctuary everyone who's part of the Christmas presentation will be meeting for practice!

The Mission and Service committee asked me to let you know that Sunday is the day to bring Operation Christmas Child boxes and Non-perishables for the Shaw Community Thanksgiving baskets!

Next week there are a few things on the schedule: Tuesday morning Men of the church will meet for breakfast at Bob Evans in Bowie at 7:45. Wednesday evening is the last SEEDS meeting for the fall session and Friday the book club will meet at the Barbato's home.

Rebecca, the kids and I are in Washington state for a little bit of househunting the rest of the week so Rev. Jeri Fields will be leading worship at UPB on Sunday where you'll be reading Hebrews 12:1-2a and Matthew 14:22-33.  I'd invite you to take a few minutes to read the passages and pray with them to prepare yourselves for Sunday.

And as always, if you want to look further out on the calendar, the website is a great resource.  Please get in touch anytime regarding your hopes, dreams, and ideas for the future of UPB, let me know what's going on in your life or if you just want to talk.

Grace and Peace to you!
