The Journey Toward Sunday

This is going to serve as the UPB Update for this week and the next two!  I'll be around Sunday but early next week I'm headed out to the Seattle area to join up with my family for vacation, my sister's wedding and a family reunion at the beach!  I'm excited to go visit - and thanks in advance to everyone who will help keep things running smoothly around here while I'm gone!

Here's the low-down on the events of the next couple of weeks:

-          Tonight is the Baysox game!  It looks like it's going to be a wonderful evening so come, bring a friend if you want, we'll meet down the third-base side in the general admission seats.

-          This Sunday is a Chat-N-Chew after church so if your last name begins with H-Z please bring a treat to share.  Also after church the Christian Spiritual Formation Committee will be meeting so if that's an area of the ministry that interests you, please come be a part of the discussion.

-          The Men's Evening Group will be going for a sail in Annapolis Tuesday June 28th @ 6:30 PM. Please advise Herb if you're interested in attending so that details can be provided.  

-          Book Club is scheduled to meet at Jan and Gene's home on July 1.  Get in touch with Jan for details.

-          The youth are headed to Six Flags on July 20^th!  Please let me know if you're planning to come!

-          Art and Music camp is coming soon and there are still some spots left.  So if you know anyone who might be interested, pass on a Registration form. 

-          And The Mission and Service committee asked me to let you all know that Operation Backpack 2011, hosted by Central Union Mission, is underway.  This is our opportunity to help underprivileged children in the Washington DC area go back to school with confidence!  You can help make this a reality by donating any of the following items by July 31:  Backpacks, pens, pencils, pencil cases, crayons, markers, loose-leaf paper, composition books, binders, highlighters, index cards, etc.  A copy of the school supply list by grades is on the table in Narthex.
